Friend getting help

I need help. My freshman year of high school absolutely sucked. There was a rumor spread about me and because of this I have no friends this year. Does anyone have any ideas or advice on how I can get people to like me again.

What was the rumor?
it depends on what it was.

It was that I was gay. I've tried to tell people that Im not but no one believes. I dont act gay or anything they are all just douches.

Although with the reputation it'll be harder...
Why don't you just be yourself and wait for the rumor to die down a little bit.
If it doesn't, or when it does,
Just ask out a girl you think is pretty or that you like.
They might just say 'Oh look he's in denial'.
She might say yes because she'd feel bad that you are 'in denial'. Who knows really.
Don't go overboard by asking out too many girls, that would obviously make you look like you're in denial.
Start with people you are friends with, or at least okay with.
Tell them it was all a rumor and they are more likely to believe you than your enemies. Leave your enemies be for now because anything you say will be twisted into something bad. Also they will see you are provoked.
Or...
Maybe you could confront the person who started the rumor? Go right up to them and let them HAVE IT! Don't yell or punch them in the face but ask in a really edgy 'I-Am-CONFRONTING-you-MAN!' kind of a voice
Or...
You could pretend like it's no big deal and just pretend nothing changed. Just take no notice of anyone or anything to do with you ''being gay''. You won't be feeding into the debate and people might forget.
Or...
Pull a huge prank so that someone else gets all the attention and you'll be forgotten.
Or...
Talk to a school counselor?
Trust me I told my counselor at JUNIOR HIGH that I almost had a 3some with some friends- ehh long story.
My point is counselors are accepting and are TRAINED to know that anything can happen. So telling her/him your deal won't be any big problem.
