It probably is your first period then. Usually you'll only bleed lightly at first and in time get heavier. Start using pads/tampons now all the time for a few days until there is no blood anymore.

It's a good idea 2 tell your mom, and ask her about tampons b/c you did start your period, and change your pad or tampon about every 2 hours, or when it's really flooded. Hope that helped! =]
