First car.

I'm 17, I tun 18 in October. I am buying my own car, with cash. not credit card, or payments. just one lump sum, up front and everything. I want a good car. something newer. like 2001+ and nothing too expensive on insurance. I DO NOT want a truck or van....

I want an SUV or a car. mind you, im 6'6'' im pretty tall, so I need to be able to fit in it. I dont mind manual, but I prefer automatic. and the thing that matters most, is the money! I will have about $6,000 by october. someone help me out! thanks =)

6k in cash will buy you a 7k sticker price easy maybe even a lot more. When you tell them that you have cash, they will bend over backwards to help you. But keep in mind they are going to try and get you to pull a loan. Don't take crap from them, when they promise something get it in writing. Also tell them if you have to repeat yourself you are walking out.

The most important thing to remember is if you are not buying, dont give them your phone number. They need to assume that once you walk out that will be the last time they see you. That will motivate them to keep you from walking out without giving you the best price.

Kudos on saving and paying cash! You have a ton of bargaining power as the car market is so horrible right now. I'd stay away from SUVs right now as gas and insurance will be killers.
