Fighting over a dog

Asked by arikg 5 months ago, 7 answers.

My room mate has been looking for a dog because I have one and she wants one also. So the other day I brough home this dog, I saved his life, and she got attached to him, and so did I. So now she wants to keep him and she wants to adopt him under her name, and I wanted to adopt him under mine. Am I being selfish? But I am the one who brough him home, and I know she couldn't take care of him financially... What should I do?

No!! not at all. To me that girl seems stuck up. you need to tell her how you feel and you brought her that dog home and that she needs another dog!! One that's not hers!!

I don't think it matters whose name it's under as long as the dog is taken care of.

yes, but we're not going to live with each other forever, so it would just be easier to decide now who will get Luke

Selfish? No...if she can't 'afford' to own a dog, feed it, vet it, etc...then you aren't being selfish by trying to make sure it gets the best care possible...

Maybe talk to her about it being a 'practice' dog for her...one that she can bond with, learn to train, etc...but as long as you're the one who is financially responsible for it, it's YOUR dog...She may just end up learning how much it costs...money AND time wise...and learn that she likes being a good pet owner...OR, she may decide it's too much money and time, and give the whole idea up...

None the less, it'll be up to you to decide...in the end...if she measures up...and that's what she needs to know...that your MAIN concern is for the dog (and that in itself is a good thing for her to learn...that it's not about HER, it's about the animal).

well I think you should keep under your name as long as you can care for him its al good I mean you did find him and you did save his life so its your choice to chose who keeps him and if you want to keep then keep him shes going to get mad but who cares is in the good of the dog so do what you want to do cause your the one that brought him home!!

good luck and I say you keep the dog!!

I think it should be in you name if she wants to have it in her name and she cant afford it well maybe you should go to the vet because you need to do whts best 4 the dog not the owner she shouldnt be so selfish!
