Fighting back to the 'scene'

Asked by the_third_man over 3 years ago, 3 answers.

I'm starting a band, around where I live. Staten Island, NY. Anyway, here its nothing but this emo and this hardcore. There's a local bar that hosts these shows, I've been to two so far. And I have to say they absolutley sucked! I mean, these kids...

listen to this shit. Anyway, me and some friends have been talking about making a band, so far, we've refused to play any emo or hardcore we're all about what it was, what it was meant to be, I dont know what the fuck happened to rock. But hopefully, we'll get our break by trying to be different. My Question...Well...What do you think about it?

Our influences are around: The Strokes, Led Zeppelin, White Stripes, and some more glam rock and punk from the 70s.

My Question...Well...What do you think about it?

i think it is always best to try and be origional, goldfrapp are ace for their glam rock influences. white stripes do it for me also. so i say go with what feels right, people are always interested in new sounds so go for it!

Dude hardcore music is awesome. If your starting a band in NY get ready for some criticism. Because I mean the only people who is going to listen to your band is like people who are 50. Rock is on the back burner nowadays, hardcore is the new crap.

Listen to some Every Time I Die, Evergreen Terrace, UnderOATH, Alexisonfire, or SAOSIN. And than say hardcore sucks.
