You are referencing a form of slang that is long since died. Adding 'ette' to words to imply feminine status has been deemed outdated and obsolete, which is why that form of slang died out in the 80s; along with gnarly, icy, bodacious, radical, etc.

The current trend in modern day is to remove gender from titles all together, which is why stewards and stewardesses are now called 'flight attendants' ...since it has been deemed 'old-fashioned' to modify titles based on gender.

Unless... you're trying to revamp that particular type of slang. If so, please don't...
