Hi strawberry! Swimming is apparently also a good cardio activity but I've been told that walking/running is pretty much the best thing you can do.
More importantly tho.. If what you are wanting to do is to lose weight, DONT STARVE YOURSELF! I started going to the gym a few months ago and have lost about 8kg of fat (have technically only lost 5kg, gained about 3kg of muscle) but I actually eat MORE than I was when I gained the weight. Though obviously I eat a lot differently - not junk like I did before. According to my trainers and other health professionals I have spoken to, a lot of the time you will actually GAIN weight before you lose it if you don't eat. They explained it by comparing it to a fire. If you fuel the fire (your body) little by little the fire will keep burning and using up the fuel (food). If you don't, the fire will stop burning (hold onto the fat). Likewise, if you let the fire sit til its almost out then go dump a huge log onto the fire (not eating for a while and then eating a whole heap at once) the fire will go out.
According to my advisors, if you starve yourself, your body realises that it's not getting any food and decides that because of this, it needs to hold onto the fat that it has and use it up slowly to preserve itself. However if it realises that it's getting food all the time, it's quite happy to keep burning it up.
I'm not saying eat constantly, and obviously every body is different, but eating healthier food more regularly is apparently the way to go.
Anyways, to me this all makes sense and its worked really well for me. Its a bit strange to begin with, but now I feel much better for it and I really enjoy good food, there really is such a variety. Good luck, I hope you get to where you want to be happy

I have experience with being a bit big.find something that works for you... I prefer weight lifting, and football helps, even though I kind of hate it.

But hey, it gives you motivation to work out and such, so sports are good.
