Family disappointment

my flower Asked by trying2understand 3 months ago, 6 answers.

So I graduate in a few weeks, and only my mom and dad are going. My brother wont get the day off I don't know why. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins are not going even though I would pay for their tickets. And its funny because they all went to my brothers graduation.
I feel let down by my family and all I have done for the whole day is cry. How do I get over the dissapointment?

Dear trying2understand,
Trying to understand: this can only be possible by asking why they aren't going. Sometimes because of our frustration we forget to ask. So ask them why they are not going and start there. Without this answer from them you may jump to conclusions and be upset for nothing.
Sue...good luck

Remember this we cannot pick our family we only can pick our friends. Be lucky that you have them at all. I have never seen my father since I was 7 years old, and the rest of my family jusat doesnt exist. Hell, when they were getting divorced, I went to live with the Grandparents, for 6 years, it was good then I came back to the states, 5 years later my Grandfather died and they only told me ten days after they buried him. Just be thankful they are there even if it is not the ones you want.

Nichole,

Don't let the turn out at your graduation bother you. Be thankful that those who do attend are ABLE to. Those that don't attend may have their own life's problems which prevent them from attending. That is not any reflection upon you.

Congratulations! There are many young people who don't graduated from high school. You are to be commended.

I hope you will be able to go on to college. It is most beneficial that you attain the highest educational level that you can. Your whole life will be based upon it AND the knowledge you continue to acquire.

I wish you well.

Ted

Is it possible the are just saying that their no going? Perhaps they want to suprise you. If not then you should confront the and inquire why they are not going.
