okay so heres how it works. american fairy tales have white characters bc those fairy tales were made long before african americans were living in europe, where the tales originated. every country has fairy tales but disney uses ones from europe, dont know why. but heres another issue... why is pocahontis not considered a disney princess if in her tribe she was consisdered one? do I think its racisim? maybe, possible. do I think they should branch out with the fairy tales? absolutly! all races love disney movies but they should use differant ethnicities.

Pochahatus or however ya spell it, disney isnt racist in the slightest lol there arent many postmen in disney films but ya dont see the royal mail rallying up an army to take down disney for being postmanist :P

There's no postmen? That's your best argument? Of course disney movies were racist, but you have to remember that most disney movies were created at a time where most of America was racially divided... There were few black characters in the movies... They have been making an effort with pocahontas, jasmine, and mulan to be more racially diverse, and it is about time they have a black character...

lol a was actually joking, its early morning but a wouldnt say disney was racist just because it doesn't have black people in, the content in it isn't like racist, well to me anyways just my opinion lol

Disney was not only racist but sexist too... and I doubt disney would deny it... but those were the times... and times have changed...

Fairy tales are found all over the world, and with local characters. Africa has a very rich heritage here - only they are often called 'Folk Tales'oir Folk Lore' - check in your library or online.

As for Disney - the Lion King was set in Africa. And all the early Disney characters - Donald Duck, etc., were animals anyway.

The fairytales familiar to you are basically European ones (Pierrot and the Brothers Grimm, as well as some written by H.C. Andersen) and, naturally, enough, they feature European characters. But a look in the library/online will show lots and lots of fairytales and folklore from other continents.

Jasmines Arabic.
But anyway, where don't you see white people on T.V. shows, lol. Seriously.
Everywhere I look, the newscasts, movies, T.V. shows.
I just wish this country was a little more diverse.
