Dear haitianprincess08,
Having pimples is hormonal and also genetic. THere are a lot of products out there that claim to help in this area. Some may help but only as far as taking some of the red out and swelling down. The only way is to consult your doctor who can direct you to a dermatologist.
Acne happens when oil (sebaceous) glands come to life around puberty, when these glands are stimulated by male hormones that are produced in the adrenal glands of both boys and girls. The oil glands, which are located just beneath the skin, continuously produce and secrete oil through openings in the skin. The oil lubricates and protects the skin. Under certain circumstances, cells that are close to the openings of the oil glands block the openings. This causes a buildup of oil underneath the skin. Bacteria, which live in everyone'sskin but generally mind their own business, feast on this oil, multiply, andcause the surrounding tissues to become inflamed.
Sue...good luck
I use Cetaphil face wash then before I put on make up I use Neutrogena's On the Spot treatment (or Zap-zit). (I stop here when it's my before bed ritutal... carry on for the daytime)
Then I put on some facial sun block and then I apply Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream. Then I put on my make up. (I use mineral make up - Neutrogena's Mineral sheers. I've found most other mineral bases to be really chalky)
Try not to touch your face during the day, your hands harbor a lot of bacteria.
I heard that if you use either toothpaste or oatmeal for on-the-spot treatments its suppose to help. Toothpaste actually helps draw out the bacteria of the pimple and oatmeal is a good way to clear blemishes, since it cools the irritation of the skin. What I use is Clean and Clear pore cleanser (which is nice and light) and the same brand Oxygenating ultra-light moisturizer which is good. They are both pretty cheap (ranging between 5 and 7 dollars each) and can be purchased at most stores.
There are a number of ingredients that could fit into this category as there are numerous anti-inflammtory ingredients. These help to reduce the size and swelling of infected comedones. They are also usedful for scar prevention. We will list just a few of the most popular and most effective:
Vitamin C
Green Tea
Alpha Lipoic Acid
Algae Extract
There has been some confusion as to whether algae extract is an appropriate therapy for acne since it is listed on some lists as being very comedogenic and irritating. There are different types and different grades of algae. Most of the extracts found in acne formulations are forms of algae extract that have been tested and shown to be non-comedogenic and very gentle. Unless you have an allergy to marine plants, you should be safe.
Nicholas Perricone's controversial book The Acne Prescription proposes an alternative treatment for adult acne, including a strict diet (dairy is totally avoided in all but two recipes) and topicals containing alpha lipoic acid. Perricone's claims did not seem to be backed up by strong scientific evidence until the publication of the acne / milk link in early 2005. There are no double-blind studies proving the effectiveness of fatty acids against acne.
Popping a pimple or any physical acne treatment creates the risk of irritating the skin and spreading the infection deeper into the skin, which may cause permanent scarring.
Home remedies: Some people claim that several things in an average kitchen like nutmeg, honey, cinnamon, garlic, orange peel, sandalwood, etc can cure acne. None of these methods have been scientifically proven.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.

OK, I found that I have to keep on changing what I use. For some reason, maybe my skin gets used to it and it stops working. Also one time I was using a special soap thingie, and then I ran out so I had to use regular soap and the pimples went away. But like I said I have to keep on changing what I use so after a whilr that stopped working. Anywho, just try different things and see what works for you. If you are like me though, you will have to keep changing what you use. Good luck and Merry Christmas (if you celebrate it.)
Firstly using substances derived from vitamin A like retin-a or tazarotene, to reduce inflammation of the skin and to unplug pores. Retin-A can cause skin reddening at first but this is quite normal as the skin's blood supply is improved and younger looking skin begins to appear presenting a youthful complexion. Using a product that includes zinc will also help the vitamin a function better.

its true that its usuallty genetic and caused by hormones but your face WILL clear up sometime soon. there are good methods to clear it up in the meantime... rubbing alcohol one to two times daily (dont be too harsh though but it works very well and gets rid of excess oil) and use a spot treatment. I use proactive refining mask and I LOVE it. I dont us the other stuff, just that. put a dab on your zits at night and leave on for 15-20 minutes then wash off but make sure you cleanse your face first and dont put anything on it after. in the morning its gone or reduced a lot! also CHANGE up your spot treatments that is the best way. trust me, your face will get used to your treatment and not be as effective as it was at first. so when you run out, go get another different kind that works for you. it will help as a lot.
