what doesn't make sense to me is that the creation debate is all about one religion's views.
There are literally hundreds of religions with all different views, and all they care about is the christian one.
Well, to fine facts on evolution, look here

and thousands of other sites
good luck, I believe in evolution. Stand up for it wellhappy

well for one it's just a theory and it's not about putting down someone's religious beliefs.

Evolution is not a theroy by definition it is still a model. A model is when you are preparing to conduct a test of in this case a concept . Because the idea of evolution is so new and the world being so old we have no documentation to serve as a foundation. What has to happen is we need to observe life now, document it then in a couple million years compare the results. Only then could it be considered a theory. Creationism as theory already has sufficient evidence to conclude its status as theory. For example the giraffe serves as one of many foundations for the theory of creationism. Like the fact that it is able to pump blood up to the brain with no logical explination as to how it can do that without suffering a massive heart attack. The humming bird is another, the fact that it can generate enough energy to fly across large bodys of water without a source of food. Or the fact that a parrots brain is so small yet it can have the intellegence capacity of a 5 year old, learn up to 6 different languages and keep them separate. No science can explain these miricles yet it does not prove that God exisit but does have a foundation to conduct more evidence. Sorry to play devils advocate but if you want to win the debate remember that he actually has a major advantage. No offense but of your opponent does his homework your screwed. Best advice I can offer is look up Dr. Richard Hawkings he is familiar with creationism evidence yet remains convinced of evolution.
