If Satan did exist, why would he need someone to play Slipknot in order to enter the house? And if he's got nothing better to do than throw stuff around the rooms of Slipknot fans, he makes a pretty pathetic master of evil. I've seen people do pranks scarier than that.

The music isn't evil, but there are some disturbing lyrics in many of the songs.

My own daughter listens to Marilyn Manson and nothing has ever flown around my house.

This is all ridiculous hype and, I'm sorry to tell you, but your elders are over-reacting

I don't believe listening to a guy singing and playing electric guitars brings out the master of all evil and torture, and all he does is make things fly across aroom.
I think it's silly.

Oh buddy:D:D:D

No, they're not satanic or anything, it's bullshiiit!!!:D:D Your parents and auntie just need to mature, sad but true.

Honestly, I don't find Slipknot much worth listening, not because they would be satanic or what (which they're not, and I would give a monkies since I'm agnostic), but because most of the music they do is commercial crap. If you want some metal (most of Slipknot is not metal), I would advise you some true heavy metal.

If anyone tells you heavy metal is evil or satanic, don't listen to him/her, because it would be obvious they never listened to it and know nothing about it. It's a complete nonsense that metal be satanic!! These rumours have been around since the time of Black Sabbath (Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward), the godfathers of heavy metal.

OK now a few verses from the song that started it all...the song is called Black Sabbath, just like the band and was released on Friday 13 of February, 1970 on the LP called again Black Sabbath:D:D

''What is this that stands before me?
Figure in black which points at me
Turn around quick, and start to run
Find out I'm the chosen one
Oh nooo!
Big black shape with eyes of fire
Telling people their desire
Satan's sitting there, he's smiling
Watches those flames get higher and higher
Oh no, no, please God help me!
Is it the end, my friend?
Satan's coming 'round the bend
People running 'cause they're scared
The people better go and beware!
No, no, please, no!''

The lyrics are apparently about some witch trial, and the narrator seems to be the supposed witch herself. Though, it might have some deeper social/political meaning which I overlooked. As you can see, there's Satan in the lyrics and that's why some Christian (and Muslim) fanatics claimed it to be satanic song...but one slight problem: the verse 'Oh no, no, please God help me!'...the whole song bears the atmosphere of refusal of Satan and fear of him, begging the Lord for help. I think it must be clear to you that it therefore can't be satanic, even slightly.

The reason they chose such dark topics in their early years was simple - kind of marketing. People have always paid to see the horror movie, to be scared. So they realised this would be popular - why not scare them with our music?? In fact, the name Black Sabbath comes from 1963 horror movie. The band themselves are mostly agnostic, I think Bill Ward (drummer) is catholic. No Devil worshippers!

To add to the dark atmosphere, they chose once forbidded interval of augmented fourth to build the central harmonic progression. It is also called a tritone and is the most dissonant interval of all. Later the song switches into more consonant mood, ended with a guitar solo by Tony Iommi.

And that's how the whole heavy metal thing started, with this band and this one song.

OK so let's move to another legendary heavy metal band - Iron Maiden. They started out in 1975 in London's East End and became one of the biggest acts of heavy metal history. And yet, they were another band that was entitled 'satanic' by some dumb people. The reason for this is again one song - The Number of the Beast.

The intro verses, which aren't sung but spoken are probably the main cause so here they are:
"Woe to you, Oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the
beast with wrath, because he knows the time is short...
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the
beast for it is a human number, its number is Six hundred and
sixty six."

Sound pretty evil, doesn't it?? So they must be satanic, right? WRONG!! Actually if you ever bothered to read the Bible (or your parents), which as Christians, you really should do, these verses might sound familiar to you. So if you haven't, DO IT!, and for now, open the Book of Revelation, chapter 13, verse 18...what do you see?? If you have the King James version, you should read exactly as it reads in the song lyrics: Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the
beast for it is a human number, its number is Six hundred and
sixty six. - Well, if Iron Maiden are satanic because of this song and this song is satanic because of the verses, then inasmuch as the verses come from the Bible, the whole Bible must be logically satanic and therefore, everyone who reads the Bible must be satanic as well, as well as the author of that book (who wrote the Revelations?). And Jesus must be satanic as well...so this logic would lead you to another nonsense. I hope it's clear now they're not satanic. If not, they've denied it many times, for instance, Bruce said at the show at Long Beach, CA in 1985 ''Iron Maiden satanic!! The answer is: No, we're not!''. That's it.

There were countless bands entitled satanic, for instance Slayer, who's frontman Tom Araya is Christian anyway.

Some black metal bands use the satanic image to increase the sales, because people might find it interesting. But in most cases, it's just an image. And perhaps there are bands who are serious about that, but I can tell you, you have never heard of them and probably never will. Even if there is some a bit satanic-looking lyrics, it doesn't mean they're satanic. Look, I'm not a christian. I celebrate Xmas and Easter though - does this make me a christian just because these are christian holidays??? Of course not

Also some people don't like the name Megadeth - well, that's just a changed spelling of the word megadeath and if you've got problem with English, there are always dictionaries on the web. You will find out it has nothing to do with Satan, but somehow has a lot to do with nuclear war. The funny coincidence is that many Megadeth's lyrics (as all the other thrash bands) are about war, unrest, society, prejudice, conformity and so on...oh and love.

In fact, Frank Zappa put it well: ''There are more love songs than anything else. If songs could make you do something, we would all love one another.''

Now, metal has many subgenres, the most important probably: black, death, thrash, power/speed, progressive, folk, doom, glam and traditional. I'm not going to explain it all.

Your family simply has no idea what heavy metal is, so they tend to believe the first bullsh*t they hear - it's not that they lie, they just don't know, but have heard that...but have heard wrong. But I hope you will trust me, someone who knows quite a lot about it, than them who have on knowledge about it.

There are influences out there that allow a portal (doorway) for negative/evil to come into your life - we have to use our best judgement and discern if what we're listening to or doing would be pleasing to God, thus having a positive-direction outcome for our lives...Take care !!

Anything that you expose yourself to is influenced by either Satanic or Godly influence. Yes you can invite demonic spirits into your home by listen to certain music or even programs on TV. Once these spirits are among you they are hard to get rid of especially if you don't have a strong foundation in Christ Jesus. And remember even if you do get rid of the spirits, if you don't replace that negative energy with something positive (the word or God) the demons will come back and bring seven more spirits that are stronger and more wicked than they are.
Matthew 12:45 Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter and dwell there; and the last state of that man is worse than the first. So shall it also be with this wicked generation.”
Please stop what you are doing. There is a lot of positive music to listen too, don't play with this fire.

It's not devil music. Do you really think the devil would need music to reach you? If he really existed he could get you any time or any place whenever he felt like it & however he felt like it. Why would he need music? He's got the permision of God to toy with you(or "test" you as some people put it).
