Can I enroll myself in school without my parents?

I’m thinking about moving out when I turn 17, and moving to Texas. My dilemma is i dont want to quit school, I was wondering if anyone knew if I would be able to enroll myself into high school without my parents being there with me?

Hi,

In Michigan, the age of majority is 18, which means you can’t move out of state without parental permission (legally) until you’re 18. Therefore, you would need a parent or guardian signature once getting to Texas.

The way around it is becoming emancipated, which means you’re your own decision-maker and provider. To become emancipated, you have to go to trial in front of a judge in court and prove that you can financially support yourself without your parents’ help.

Good luck.
