Its okay to want to marry your boyfriend at 17, but actually do it when the time is right.
I can not tell you when the time is right for you, because only you will know that. But I can tell you it should be when you are both emotionally mature enough, have lived a little, and can financially and emotionally handle a marriage.
People think getting married is easy, and something that will just happen and work. But the truth is getting married is hard work, and needs two commited people to be there willing to put the time and effort into a marriage. Once your married you just dont stop working on that relationship.. its something that needs care everyday.
well heres my thought...I got married at 19. I had my 2nd anniversary the 26th of this month. I love my husband more than anything in this world, but I am here to tell you Its way harder than just saying I DO. You have to think of the major jump you are taking, Its not anything like dating and just living together. Like Ash23 stated, it takes alot of commitment and work. You have to think its you and your husband against the world. Its not easy. I am in college full time and my husband is in the Army. Not only are you starting a life as a married couple, at such a young age you are also having to find yourself and start your OWN life.
Just think about it and make sure its what you want, its truly a life changing event. Make sure you are looking at all sides. Especially school and making sure you can be Independant, this was on of the biggest decisions my husband and I made. We never if anything happend wanted the other not to be able to make it alone.
Best wishes and just remember consider EVERY aspect!
Young couples are at the highest risk for divorce. The statistic starts to drop when people are in their late 20’s through 30’s. It is possible that those who marry too young are still maturing and are not as equipped to deal with the stresses and strains of marriage and family. Not being established professionally is one of those stresses.
The ages between 18-26 are particularly challenging, because in some ways, people feel ready for a more permanent adult relationship--especially the women at that age. However, due to the way this society is set up, people don’t achieve financial and emotional independence until later. So there is a conflict in needs and readiness when it comes to relationships for those in that age bracket. Some may marry prematurely because the need for connection wins out.

17! I know this is probably too young. What age do you think is most appropriate to get married these days?
