End of the world in 2012?

Yup I'm a Dad Asked by tvsnow about 1 year ago, 16 answers.

ok, I know no one really knows when the world is going to end... But the aztec calendar only goes up to 2012 ... a lot of people believe that this is the year when the world comes to an end ,,, especially with all the gas prices, economy and gangs...

and violence going on in the world ... Do people think this is the beginning of the end of the world?

what are your thoughts

im not a firm believer that the world will end in 2012. but it seriously wouldn't suprise me at all. and no lie, I live life like its going to end in 2012, not because of the mayan calender though, that would just be a coincidence. things arn't going to be as good as they are now for very much longer, and thats a fact, not speculation. so you better get your fun in while you can. so im having fun now and I have a couple years to make preparations for the worst

Hell with aztecs, were they better our astrologers of today that they could predict what our astrologers have not?!!! Nah... the world will go on, though some beings may evolve or go extinct... Anyways, I'm not going to die before I get married, and there's quite some time for that ;-)

That would be the Mayan colander, not aztec
Mayans predicted a lot, every single one has came true
but then again, only 4 temples remains of the Mayan, all else was destroyed by the Christians, only reason they're around is because some priest tok pity on the.
There's no survives to keep making the prophets, even if there were they wouldn't know if they were.
Men, women, children were all killed mercilisly.

Then again you never know.
There's this story of the end of the world happening during an eclipse.
If you want do some research on that, I'm feeling lazy don't want to right now, sry.
But if you notice, a lot of End Of The World myths just so happen to have some sort of an eclipse

Why would the Aztecs get to determine the end of the world.

You're actually talking about the Mayan calendar, I think. And it goes to 2012 on our calendar because it's written in spiral form. They classified time into cycles, and 2012 is simply the end of the last cycle they documented on their calendar. Had their civilization survived, they probably would have continued working on another one. Besides, they celebrated these transitions, not feared them.

You're obviously too young to remember the recession of 1990, which was worse for most people than our current economic situation. Also, the stagflation of the 70's and the Great Depression were far worse times economically, and in many ways, socially. Life is, overall, better for us than for our ancestors. Appreciate it. Don't live in fear of mythology and lies.

The bible tells us to be ready for Christs second return, at any time, it also says that no one knows the day, nor the hour, except for God himself, and it tells us to recognize the signs of the end. However, much change is to take place on planet earth, but, a new earth is planned for those who love his appearing, so, If you trust in God, and have salvation thru his provision, you will not be alone. God will take care of those who trust in him, and he knows them by heart. He knows how many hairs are on our head, and when a sparrow falls, he judges the intents of the heart.

All he ever wanted was fellowship with his creation, and obedience to his laws.

I don't believe so because the Aztecs lived a long time ago when they made that calender. The calender would have been extended if they would have survived longer. It is also true that they are better astrologers than we are today.

The world will end when God comes back to Earth. The earth WILL NOT END TILL GOD COMES BACK TO EARTH.

Gosh, I hope not, but it's true that everything is changing. My best friend and I were talking about this the other day. He said as soon as a nuclear war starts, it's over. But I have things I need to do before I die!! So I hope it's not true. Maybe the Aztecs just got lazy or something and that's why it only goes to 2012.

The Aztecs also thought the sun was god, and that human sacrifices were necessary for good crop yields.

The ancients were dumber than us, not smarter.
