There is a small pin size hole on the front cover somewhere. Straighten a paperclip and insert the striaghtened end in to the hole. It should release the catch and spring the DVD open. But you might want to check that the unit is powered, then try pressing the button. Also depowering by unplugging the unit then repowering it may reset a confused mechanism. Good luck.
