How to help my dry hair?

Asked by cherthoughts 8 months ago, 12 answers.

Hi, I am suffering from very dry hair. I use conditioning shampoo. I take omega 3 tablets. I eat very healthy. I do suffer from muscle pain but have it under control with glucosamine sulphate and calcium tablets.
Any advice?

Hi, thank you for the advice. Yes I have tried it and still do use it when needed but in the end it seems to dry it out even more. Some one suggested mayonnaise as an hour treatment, then rinse out. I am going to try it .
Thank you for your answer.

Have you used lots of coloring on it? I find mine is much drier now as I'm always trying to cover up the grey. The stylist also told me that the shampoos we buy in the drugstores are very bad for hair. She suggested I buy one of the salon brands because they have the right pH levels. I haven't done that yet because I can't bear to spend $20 on a bottle of shampoo, lol but hey, it might be worth a try.

not all oil stuff is great for hair it actually dries hair more especially if your always in the sun or in cold climates.. never use a shampoo that says 2 in 1 because' it actually tends to damage hair.. use shampoo and conditioner separately and don't blow dry or iron your hair everyday or too much.. don't shampoo your hair everyday but condition it instead. shampoo should be used every other day so it won't dry your hair.. also, too much hair coloring makes hair brittle and dry, try having you hair colored every 4-6 months and if you need to re-touch your hair go to a real hair expert don't do it yourself because you can't really tell if what you're doing is right because' you can't really see your back.

if you are not as hydrated as you should be that could be the problem some people just have dry hair. I use leave in condition (some work, some don't you have to keep looking for what works for you) You can get hot oil treatments, but they aren't always the best. Try staying away from curling irons, hair straighteners, and blow drying as much as possible. it could also be if there is cold weather. maybe you can consult a professional and they can give you some good tips.

To add to all the other really good advice...you should wash your hair with cold water to help retain moisture. Also...for less expensive products you should try the suave professionals...My favorite is the one in the orange bottle(comparable to matrix).

The only thing I can suggest is that when you use conditioner, leave it to soak in your hair for a good 5-10 minutes. The longer the better.
Thats what I do and it works great.
