chances are, if you become vegetarian, you WON'T gain muscle mass, and it WILL be bad for you. -not that being vegetarian isn't a healthy way of living, but it requires a lot more work, and if you just take meat out of your diet, you won't be eating healthy. you need to come up with a diet for yourself. show your parents that you really care about this, and maybe they'll take you more seriously. also, offer to make your own meals. they make a valid point; nobody wants to make a meal for everybody, and a meal for you also. sounds like it's not worth it, to me. I'll bet if you did that though, they'd let you do it. you might also let them know that of all the things you could be doing to rebel, this really isn't that big of a deal...good luck, go live the dream.
I'm a vegetarian. My parents didn't want me to be one either. I showed them I could do it by finding protein drinks that I drink everyday. I lost only a little muscle mass, not much. Then I excersized everyday for the first months, and I gained a lot back. It's not bad for your body if anything it's much better, as long as you take a multi-vitamin and possibly other vitamins along with it. Did you know meat can give you heart disease? Well, I think that you should tell your parents that you will make your own meals, and show them a few recipies that you will try. Just make sure you eat a lot of protien. One last thing; vegetarian chicken is REALLY GOOD! it's called like chik'n or something . its in an orange box. I like the breaded chicken, but they are all good. Hope that helps (:

My parents won't let me become a vegetarian but I think that is my choice to make. They argue that I can't because I won't gain muscle mass (for sports), its bad for my body/haealth, and they don't want to make me seperate meals. What can I argue back to convince them to let be be a vegetarian?
