not that much but it helps your back a lot
Yoga builds your core muscles...the big ones of the abdomen, back, and upper legs. Also good for increasing the strength of your stabilizer muscles. Yoga alone may not cause you to lose much weight, but bigger 'big' muscles will raise your metabolism more than big biceps, calves, pectorals, etc. It will give your body a better overall look. Tighten the belly...straighten posture...better looking posterior...define the thighs. Add in light cardio and diet...results will be astounding. I've done yoga, free weights, straight cardio...for my money...yoga gave the best results with the least effort exerted, recovery time is less too. I say give it a try.
not really you don't really work up a sweat.but if yoga is your thing I've heard of something called power yoga this will make you sweat. And also in some yoga studios they crank up the heating not sure of the details but you can try it out.
