Does scene hair have to be thin?

I know how to do scene hair. I'm good at doing scene hair supposedly.. But most people with scene hair I've seen have really thin hair at the bottom layer.. and my hair is realllyyy thick even when I straighten it.. I tried to thin it with a razor but...

my mom said it was screwing up my hair and hid it from me. xD

the top is supposed to be short and layered to look thick. the bottom IS actually supposed to be thin. but yours dont have to be like everyone elses my friend. be yourself. :]
