It can be, but the trouble with a lot of businesses that add a feed because its what everyone else is doing forget that you have to update it and keep it current. Like a lot of companies that first got websites, they ran with the idea that if they built it, customers would come. But they forgot that to keep people coming back you have to keep adding to or updating your site.
If you're going to offer an RSS feed you need to update it weekly at the very least. The best choice would be to update it daily or every other day.
