Does he have a girlfriend?

Their is a guy I work with, we all went out for drinks the other night, he was very flirty and friendly, asked me for my number, asked me to go out to the races with him, and called me later to see if I want to come out. he messaged me a few days later...

to see what I was up to. at work hes really friendly, and always smiles and is looking at me and flirty. he asked me to go out for drinks (another group thing) tomorrow night. the problem is that when he first started working there he had a girlfriend. how do I find out if he still does without outright asking? if I ask and he does and was just being friends it will be awkward because we work together. but at the same time I dont want to flirt back and later find out he has a girlfriend, or to not flirt back and him to think im not interested if he dones't have a girlfriend.

because no one on this site actually knows the guy
so if you want to find out, your going to have to ask him
or perhaps ask one of his friends to ask him instead
