Tea does help you ward off stress, even if you drink the caffeinated variety. There is an ingredient in most black teas that helps to calm the nerves, and there is something generally soothing about holding a hot mug of tea in your hands.

Gosh, now I'm hankering for a good pot of tea right now.

definately, but it is also addicting in the long run like coffee, the green tea variety on the other hand has the same effects and has a lot more natural ingredients that help in so many other ways........might wanna try that also.......in the orients they drink a lot of green tea, and they're healthy and agile as can be and generally live longer than most americans........in south east asia they drink black tea, almost everyone right down to 10 yr old kids sometimes, but its a relaxing and a ritualistic family gathering thing that makes the tea taste even more colorful than it is, its like everyone getting together for supper.......but only we're gonna have tea and biscuits instead, dinner at a later time.....

hope this helps

I Rec amend peppermint tea, it's caffeine free and if you add splenda to it, zero calories. Absolutely wards off all my stress and is a great way to get all the water you need. I drink 3 16 0z. of Chamomile tea and 3 16oz. of peppermint tea everyday!!

Well, my family drinks tea all the time. It's supposed to be able to calm people down. And I think it works, that's how my stressful parents calm down.

All tea (white, green, oolong, black) is made from the same thing - camellia sinensis, so it doesn't matter what kind you drink as long as it is actual tea. Tea has L-Theanine, which is fantastic at helping you to relieve stress. Studies have indeed shown that regular tea drinkers rebound from stress much more quickly. Google L-Theanine for more information.
