Does bad breath in my dog mean she's sick?

Me! Asked by editor 7 months ago, 2 answers.

My 3-year-old terrier mutt's breath is suddenly awful. We haven't changed her diet...the only thing recently that's changed is the weather (live in sunny Miami--usually 80 degrees or more, but lately is in the 50s).

Why is her breath suddenly so bad? She used to kiss me on the face and I wouldn't notice any odor, now it's unbearable. Do they have doggie dentists? Is she sick with cancer or something?

My fiances dog has TERRIBLE breath.. The kind that will make you GAG. The dog is 14 years old though.. and has had the bad breath for a few years now. Im not sure of any cause of this doggie bad breath... But at the pet store there are some dog mints, which help control the gross breath!
