Does anyone have or know about these type of dairy allergies?

purple Asked by ash23 about 1 year ago, 9 answers.

My fiance is Allergic to Dairy Products, but only became allergic 3 years ago. His symptoms have nothing to do with intestinal problems. If he has even the slightest bit of Dairy, he has Flu like symptoms, or a severe sinus headache that puts him in bed...

for a few days. We have described him as Lactose Allergic, rather than Lactose Intolerant.

-A Doctor has not been able to diagnose him.

After doing some experimenting we think that maybe the allergy could be caused by Casein or Whey.

Has anyone heard of any allergy like this or knows of anyone with the same symptoms? We are trying to figure out if this is common or if there is anything that can be done!!

I don't believe that I'm allergic to dairy but I seem to be sensitive to it.

I have seasonal allergies and when I drink dairy it seems to make my seasonal allergies much worse.

When I ate and drank dairy foods I was on multiple meds to manage my allergies and asthma: Singulair, Serevent, and Nasonex and to tell the truth they weren't doing the job. When I started avoiding dairy my symptoms improved to the point where they still bother me but not badly enough to require medication.

If your fiance is having problems with dairy there is something you can easily do, avoid it. That is what I did.

Thats what he does. Avoid. But its hard sometimes checking every little thing when going out to eat. Sometimes some things have butter in it, which we didnt know about, and it makes him sick.

I've just never heard of Dairy knocking someone out in bed for a few days!

Thanks for the help! happy

I have never heard of a whey or Cassein allergy. Whey is supposd to be the most easily digested protein, but suppose it is possible.

I had bronchial infections for 8 years - Dr's told me they had no idea what was wrong - and many said they could not help me. I was diagnosed from everything from Asthma to Bronchiestisis. I met an acupuncturist that said for me to give up dairy - that was 3 months ago and I have been much better. I cannot have caramel coloring, Cassein or Whey - these are all dairy proteins along with any other dairy or eggs - makes me so sick I need antibiotics and am in bed for days.

First off, Out of 7 years of study, doctors spend only days studying allergies, and diet. So they won't have a clue.
I have a similar allergy to dairy products that produce flu like symptoms. Once I cut out ALL dairy COMPLETELY including lactose, casien, whey, or anything similar, an amazing thing happened: I didnt get any colds or flu like symptoms for YEARS!!
There is a conspiracy out there that dairy is needed and healthy, it is not, and in fact, the commercially available dairy products out there are toxic, laden with hormones and chemicals.
When I was in India and ate dairy daily because it was in everything, my allergies were not nearly as severe, as the milk is pure.

People have different sensitivities to dairy, but everyone has some. For many like us it is worse than others.

Find substitutes, there are many good ones, like Tofutti brand that taste exactly like dairy.
But even those can cause you issues, they are concentrated and too much can cause health issues.

I am allergic to casein, the protein in dairy, and it makes me completely sick! My seasonal allergies definitely get worse, I get headaches, and it makes me sleep waaay too much. In addition to that, it makes me depressed-I can feel the effect on my mood almost immediately. I feel weighed down, sleepy, and sad. So, I have to avoid all dairy, and check all labels for whey or casein. I eat/drink a lot of rice milk, soy products, and almond milk. Sometimes I forget how bad it is and eat something yummy like pizza, but at a huge price--I end up sleeping for days and spiraling into depression. It is completely worth it to alter your diet.
