I use to have them... then I decided to take them out because my ear got really swollen since it was pierced too low on my ear lobe. The smaller the width of the earring, the higher the gauge will be. I think the smallest you can possibly get is a 20g which is the size of regular earrings. Some people then go to to a 18g which is the size of earring studs (if you got your ears pierced professionally) I started with a 16g. It really doesn't hurt much at all to put those in... I suggest waiting at least 3 days after you put those in... then it goes to a 14g, to a 12g, to a 10g, and so on. Always in even numbers. If you want ones that are just kinda big I would suggest going to an 8. You will just barley be able to fit the tip of your pinkie through that hole. The biggest I know of is a OO (double zero). The bigger they get (even if you have left the previous size in for a long time) the more they will hurt when you put them each time. You will probably have to force them in when you go up in size. Don't change them if they still hurt... wait until they are completely healed until you switch pairs. If you have anymore questions, feel free to funmail me! Good luck!
Well I have a size 8 which is pretty tiny.
you can start at a ten which is even smaller
the bigger the number the smaller the gauge
so imagine a zero
start with a 16 gauge and work your way down by 2s,
so you'd go;
16 then
14 then
12 then
10 then
8 and so on..
also asking someone at Hot Topic could help you.
I went from regular earrings to a 12 then go to a 10 and so on each size goes by 2 (example 12 to a 10 to a 8) its weird the sizes get smaller as the hole in your ear gets bigger but yea it kinda hurts at first but you get used to it pretty quick or I did at least. :D
I have gauges.
the sizes are simple.
first its 16 then 14 then 12 then 10 then 8 then 6 then 4 then 2 then 0 then 00 then 7/16 and so on.
if you dont want them big I think that a good size is a 2 or 0 gauge.
6 or 8 are pretty good sizes.
tattoo shops can actually pierce you ear with a hollow needle so your pail would only be 1 time (two for both ears) rather than stretching every month or every few weeks. Also tapers tend to get really expensive.
here's a great site to buy plugs:

I have my ear pierced twice, and both gauged/stretched.
Now, I started slowly, going from an 18, to 16, to 14, and I was doing goood. But then I decided I wanted to go bigger, FASTER. So, I bought a pair of 4's, and stretched. It was pretty damn painful. Then I proceeded to go from a 4 to a 00, and then from a 00 to 1/2 inch.
It's the stupidest thing to do.
Ever.
Don't do it like I did, but start small, start with an 18 gauge and slowly move up sizes. If you want gauged that still look like earrings when you're wearing plugs, I'd stop at a 6 or a 4, maybe a 2 if you want them to look like gauges, but not be huge.
Hope this helps!
(:

I went from a standard piercing size to a 12. It didn't even hurt so I think you should start at that. I also recommend tapers. I personally like them the best =).
I think every1 on here doesnt no shit
pretty much every1 in my town has gauges I have size 1/2 inch I used to have 1 7/16 but it blew out but what you do is you tapers to make the hole bigger and dont say never skip sizes its ok until you get to like a 2g then go by reg sizes but dont use peroxide or alcohol or peroxide it drys out the ear use soap
I Currently have inch and a half so I have some knowledge amongst stretching. First off, gauge is a common term, but in the body mod industry the term is streching. Normal ear peircing start at any where from 14g to 20g, as read above they lower in a quantity of 2's but after 00 they turn into fraction's of 1/16cms. Take your time in stretching your ears for the fact that it is skin tearing and it is going to have an affect on later removal if done quickly. Also in bigger plug sizes try using Vitiam E oil's or Emu oils they increase the drop in ears size by restoring natural fat and also prevent skin drying from low blood circulation. Also watch what materials are in your jewelry cheap materials can cause infection and or drag out the healing process. Hope some of the above was helpful.
