You have to be 18, an adult, to have anything pierced or tattooed, without parental approval. A monroe does not mess up your mouth if it is done correctly and safely by a certified piercer. And the only way you would get sick or something, is if it was not taken care of properly or pierced properly and it resulted in an infection. Infections of the mouth can spread quickly and can be very dangerous. But you still have 5 years before you should be, or can, worry about any of this so I wouldn't sweat it if I were you!

well i got a monroe im 17 the legal age is 18 but if you have a parent with you and the right documents they will pierce you. i havent had any trouble with it. at first its really swollen and since it is it will rub up against your gums and teeth but the swelling will go down after a couple of days or for some weeks it all depends on how you take care of it.
but all in all its really neat to have IF its the right look for you.
