I'd recommend joining chorus classes and music classes at school first. You can learn a lot in classes like that. Also, it wouldn't hurt to look into singing lessons too. Even if you have a great voice, I'm sure there's always room for improvement. Definitely don't give up though, especially if this is a major dream of yours.Keep practicing ;]
first of all, your 13... chill.. no rush.
becoming a pro singer takes A LOT of work. regardless if you have the voice or not. and I'm not talking about the package.. I'm talking about your organization skills, communication skills, ability to bring people together, stage preformance. A LOT of people never make it anywhere close to the top. but I know plenty who get by just fine from singing.
I'm a singer/songwriter. and I started out around your age. but as much as I had the whole record contract dream. I was just glad to sing, glad to preform, happy to do music. and I'm doing it for a living right now. I worked about 30 non-music jobs and HATED every one of it. now I have to work a lot harder then the office jobs and starbucks gig. and get paid a lot less sometimes. But it dosn't bother me at all.
you gotta ask yourself. and you ready to take every form of insult and fake complements and critisizm. Reharse for dozens of hours and put all that work on a show that could have a bad turnout (bad money) or have it cancelled due to weather or bad booking? work your but off for a audition and have people tell you your not good enough. and still keep going? If singing is all you really want to do, and can't picture yourself doing anything else with or without the money. then sing away. but if not, I wouldn't recomend going for it as a full-time career.
the outcome of your decision should NEVER finalize what you decide. besides, record contracts are a lot more tricky then you think. even the big artists don't make as much as you think alone on their records.
but don't stop singing. Its one of my favourite instruments and the most unique. only YOU have your voice. and it needs to be heard.
hope that helps
hey,its justin bieber some of you guys know me...I became a singer when I was just 12 or 13 and how I did it was entering a local singing contest and I dont know how but I won...u just have to practice a lot...I remember walking up to usher and being so exited I asked him if he wanted to hear me sing one of his songs and I didnt end up singing for him untill like 2 weeks later...well good luck!
