“The Cemetery”
A soft breeze caresses the stone and trees,
The night is beginning its preliminary call.
The crickets begin to sing their refrain,
Of the marvelous season we would...
call fall.
There laid to rest in this desolate night,
No one around for this insecure fright.
The grass begins to whistle and sway,
The spirits are restless in this elementary fray.
So many have come to relinquish their pain,
Yet not one would approach in this nocturnal state.
Family and friends are set here lain,
Close and yet so far away.
The outline of flowers, planks and array,
Left for the people who are currently away.
The shadows of the trees dance on the ground,
Producing an anomalous, distinctive sound.
An assortment of hues transforms the nightly firmament,
And the darkness begins to dwindle.
The obscurity that surrounded this abandoned place,
Is replaced with light, the vivacity rekindled.
