yeah I think things happen for a reason somethings are either meant 2 b or not .
Yes, I do think that this is the case... most of the time.
Are you asking if we believe in FATE?
yes, I believe that, however you cannot sit back and believe that things will 'just happen for a reason' without the proper help from YOU. You have to help move your future along, or your past, whatever it may be. You take control of your life and affect those around you, it's not by fate alone.
No, I don't think things happen for a reason.
I do believe it unwise to waste opportunities. ie, if life gives you lemons, then make lemonade.
Alison Lapper http://www.alisonlapper.com/biog/
is an excellent example of this. If you like in the UK you may have seen her on TV .
She was born with deformed legs and with out arms - instead of sitting around on state benefits being a 'poor disabled person' she makes her living from her condition.
As part of her lifes work she even had a giant statue of her pregnant body on display in Londons Trafalgar Square.

I have met and helped Alison Lapper in her work, and she is funny, straight to the point, honest, emotionally and intellectually intelligent. Oh-she also teaches, drives a car, travels the world, pays for her own home help and as she kindly explained to me, wipes her own ar*e.
For her to have acheived what she has, is extra-ordinary - the fact that she did it with out arms is, well, mindblowing! Not enough, ok, add the fact that she was raised in a strange experimental laoratory called a hospital, without any parental figures, and is now her self a single parent of a really cool kid called Paris - sweet as hell, and full of life!
I believe that life has no meaning at all other that the meaning we choose to give to it.
Alison wasn't born this way because she was meant to get a statue made. She was born this way because her mother was given experimental drugs by her Doctor.
I don't believe in fate either. The funny thing is that when you look back through your life it looks like a story unfolding with turning points happening at just the right time. The thing is that it seems this way because of our natural inclination to see order in chaos.
Dear alwaysandforever,
Yes...I think we don't know why things happen...we are ignorant of the reason. But there are times when we do get a glimps. For example I was delayed behind a rather old gentleman in traffic. It wasn't for long but other drivers were getting very angry with this man. Believing as I do I let it slide without being bothered. As we travelled a few miles more we could see a problem up ahead. If I would have been traveling at the regular speed I would have been smack dab in the middle of a very bad accident. Was the hold up for me?? Was it for one of the other drivers??? Who really knows but we all knew it was for a reason.
Sue...good luck
