Lol, ofcourse not all people are equal in the court of law, aside from the prejudice (racism, sexism), the amount of money a person has is obviously highly influential, how many people have gotten off easy because of their name or the amount of money they have?
The way juries see people is highly biased on an even more subtle note.
For example you have the "halo effect" where beautiful people are simply thought to be better people, unattractive men accused of rape are more likely to get convicted and a higher sentence... baby faced people are thought to be more innocent (except when it comes to crimes involving deception, then their looks work against them) etc etc...

They would have had a way harder sentence I think the celebrities get away with far too much just because they have so much more money and have ah higher status in the country!!
everyone in the united state have the right to be trialed by a jury which will come up if your guilty or not so ya everyone is equal in the court of law but their sentens is up to the juge I should know I want to be a cop. hey I know when you get arrested they read you these rights "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to be speak to an attorney, and to have an attorney present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be provided for you at government expense"

Ok so after reading harper lees novel to kill a mockingbird, we had a mock debate over what atticus says to the jury at toms trial..."there is one place that makes a pauper the same as a rocka feller and that place is the court" or something like that so the question was...do you think that all people are equal in the court of law? Not should they be but are htey. I argues no because everybody has there own opinion of things and some judges may have a hint of racism in him and some people cant afford the same lawyer as the other person adn stuff like that...so what do you guys think?
