Probably any word that we use in a phrase, or even the word itself, when used in a derogatory sense would be the word(s) most used out of context. Think of all the obscenities that we use; almost all of those words mean something other than what we use them for. The 'n-word' is a good example, considering the word itself stands to describe someone who is ignorant. But how we've changed it and used it, it's a way to negatively refer to a black person.

I honestly think that's been the case for anything we talk about. And I don't think that it's merely today's society that's started the trend of decontextualizing words to use them for slang; these things have been around for as long as I can remember.

At the beginning, back when homosexuality, race, etc. were really REALLY hot topics and huge 'no-no's' in society, these things came out. I'm pretty certain that 'that's gay' stemmed from people's general skepticism and dislike for people who were gay and since it was such a 'bad' thing, people started using it to refer to things they didn't like or thought were stupid.

That doesn't make sense, no. But the word gay in describing homosexuals doesn't make much sense either. The 'n-word' doesn't make sense when you describe a race of people. If you really take time to think about the words we use, you'll find a lot of them are taken out of context and none of them really make sense. I suppose some are used more than others, though, depending on where you are and the group of people you're surrounded by.

More accurately it's 'That's Ghey'... or how I love to say it, 'that's f**cking ghey, dude. Seriously!'

I started using it after watching too many episodes of South Park and it's like saying 'that's retarded!', or 'stupid' etc... Oooh another kickass word is 'Sif'... which is used when you want to say something is disgusting, or grotesque.

I would say that 'cool' is the most widely used word out of context... because people are always saying it and have for years.
