Do the yeti exist in the himalayas?

Do you think the yetis exists deep in the Himalayas? Is it possible for such a giant human race to exist secretly?

It wasn't until 1992 that some cow-sized species (called the 'saola' I believe) was discovered living off in some jungle somewhere in Vietnam. Cows are pretty big, and to think that no one would have noticed the saola's existence until 1992 is pretty cool.

I assume the areas in which a yeti might reside in the Himalayas would be relatively less visited and explored than places in Vietnam, as it's a harsher place, etc. As of now there's no definite evidence proving the existence of such a creature, but nothing to disprove it's existence either. So it's possible.

I wouldn't think the Yeti is a giant human race, perhaps more likely a giant ape race. I would like to think the Yeti exists - certainly no adequate explanation has ever been found for what have come to be regarded as Yeti footprints. As kamex notes with the Cows, its possible for large spieces to go unnoticed for so long, especially in large remote regions such as the Himilayas. Its possible the Yeti exists...

Possible, but I doubt it. Footprints can be faked (or misidentified). A hair sample with DNA analysis might be something worth talking about. Until then, I remain a doubting skeptic.

Have you heard of Almas? They seem more human-like than the Yeti legends. I find them really interesting.

What are almas?

They are said to live in mountains a bit to the east of the Himalayas. They are much more human-like than other 'yeti/bigfoot' characters and might just represent the last of the Neanderthals on earth. One poor female was 'captured' in the 19th century and had children with a village man. The children were said to have certain very primitive facial characteristics. Some say this poor woman was just a 'wild woman' who had grown up in the mountains, but maybe she was a different type of human..?
