Do mercedes e320 handle well on the road

Do the 96-02 MB E320 handle well on the road, because I have noticed if you hit a dip or bump in the road , you can feel it in the steering wheel and the car slides a bit?

I think any car will be affected by a bump, but the Mercedes will be a lot smoother than other cars. Ie you may feel the bump in the wheel, but not the whole car body, like a plastic Saturn or something similar. They handle really nice from the 2 I've driven in my life (not my car, unfortunately).
