Do lip peircings close up on you?

I know that when you get your ears peirced, if you stop wearing earrings for a long time, the peircing can close up on you. Does this happen with lip peicings? and if so, is it really quick, or what? Like, for a tongue peircing, you have to leave a...

peircing in all the time. Do you have to do that with your lip?

I've had my lip pierced for about two years. I can have my lip piercing out for months at a time without having any trouble slipping it back in. The important part is just to keep it in for about 6 months in the beginning and after that it won't close for a long time.

It depends on how long you've had it in for.
Much like your ears if you have a piercing long enough, it won't close up at all...

Uhmmm well I've had my lip pierced 5 times. Each time I decide to take it out it closes up and heals around 3 days. Within the 1st week though it's still thin enough that I can just poke the piercing back through if I wanted to. I don't keep piercings in for more then 1-2 years on my lips though, I get bored of them.
But I have a friend who's had his lip pierced for 7 years, and he can take his out for about 1-2months before it starts to close up...

yes, every single normal piercng will close up if you take it out for too long
unless youve had it in for a long, long time
or have those giant holes in your ears from gauging them, those will never fully close up

That would depend on how long you've had it. If you've only had it a week or something then yes, you'll need to leave it in all the time for a few months or else it'll close up really easily because it wouldn't be fully healed. If you've had it a few years, it wouldn't exactly need to have the lip ring in ALL the time. But keep in mind that over time ALL piercings WILL close up. If you didn't put jewelry in for months or years, then yes... the hole would close up.
