I believe in sceince, and evolutyion. yes I am christian as well. I read and hear that god created the universe, so am I to believe that the aliens are christian, jewish, jahova witeness, islamic, morman, muslim, baptist, cathlic, or athiest? Or do they have their own religion? And can any Religion scriptures and artifacts answer this question, or will time only tell.

theres no doubt that aliens exist
but no, they dont beleive in the same things we do
or have the same religions and non-relgions as us
if they do beleive in a god
its there own kind of god
it wont have anything to do with the gods thats people beleive in on earth

I am sure they would. They probably have some kind of god or idol they look up too. We are one in a few billion life forms in this universe. We will never know the answer to this question because we haven't the technology to travel at the speed of light for 26 years to get to the next solar system. The aliens you speak of may have gone just as mad as us humans trying to figure out how we go here to make their own version of religion up. Maybe they are smarter. Maybe they have been here longer and know how we got here and don't need a fictional character to tell them how they got here. We WILL NEVER know.

If there are aliens (there's no evidence of any so far, but it's a biiig universe), it's quite possible they have religion(s). The problem is, since the only example we have is ourselves, it's hard to tell if religion is a natural property of becoming self-aware, or if we're merely freaks of evolution.

Given that religion is a social phenomena, though, there's no reason we should expect it to resemble our own religions, except perhaps in the basic features (eg, worship of deities).

Unfortunately, even if there are aliens, given what we understand of physics, it seems very unlikely we'll ever meet them, or even have a conversation with them. The bits of the universe nearest us seem to be uninhabited, and the universe is so unimaginably vast that anyone further away is simply too far away to ever come in contact with.

Barring superluminal travel, but there doesn't seem to be much hope for that outside science fiction. I sure hope I'm wrong, though.

Religion arose in humans because of a few inate tendencies we have:

- we have a tendency to confuse correlation with causality. This is muddled thinking, and there's no reason to suspect other intelligent life forms would have the same flaw.

- we have a tendency to anthropomorphize. This is also muddled thinking, and there's no reason to suspect other intelligent life forms would have the same flaw.

- we have a tendency toward locgical fallacies; appeal to authority, appeal to popularity, appeal to antiquity, and appeal to emotion. All of these play a role in propogating religion, and there is no reason to believe other intelligent life forms would share these flaws.

So, while it's possible that other intelligent life forms might have religions, there's no reason to suspect they would. Religion is a human phenomenon.

toadaly: I've heard plausible evolutionary explanations for why humans developed most or all of those, though - which is why I supposed it plausible that aliens might also have religion.

If aliens exist, they probably have religions...
And if they have religions, they are probably as screwed up as earthlings...

maybe
it wouldn't suprise me though if it were the opposite of ours
them being the Gods that created us
lol
that would be interesting
you never know
they might have the same
they might have different
they might not even have a religion & be pure science
or all of the above, it just depends on the alien as it does the person
lol
