Discrimination against a wiccan

In darkness and light the truth remains Asked by jester_x 11 months ago, 35 answers.

Ok so a wiccan friend of mine was at a gas station. She didn't buy gas but was buying a soda and things. She was wearing a pentacle around her neck. A employee came up to ask her to leave. She asked why she was told they didn't want devil worshipers in...

their store. They then proceeded to walk her out to her car. What do you think she should do? I've suggested the better business bureau and contacting the gas stations main office.

harleyrider: Before you go telling other people to do your homework, perhaps you should do your own. Under the Civil Rights Act of 1964, businesses in the US are prohibited from engaging in racial or sexual discrimination when providing services; 'private' clubs are explicitly excluded, which is why the examples given can exist. And I hope you can see the difference between refusing to serve an intoxicated person alcohol and refusing to serve someone based on race or sex.

If the gas station is owned by a person who is muslim, or any other person that is against wiccans, they can do it, its sad and stuff ya but its there right. thats why buisnesses have signs that say we have the right to deny service to any customer its there right to do that.

They should definatly talk to the better business bureau or the store manager or owner. There is NO reason for that kind of discrimination to be taking place, I dont care what ethnicity or religion the person in the gas station may be.

faithfulgirl27:
It is practically unheard of for me to get annoyed by people's religious points of view but, this is one of those occasions. You seem to be doing no more than using your religion to aim hatred at other people. I thought the bible was meant to preach tolerance and all that, but it seems to me that is not the case, as your above comment so clearly shows. If you cannot keep such views to yourself, then please just go away, because you may as well be an athiest, cause you dont seem to be doing a very good job of being a christian. Im sorry if this offends anyone but im only saying what I felt when I saw the above comment by the above user

They have no right to deny you service. Contact the ACLU. The BBB will only lodge a complaint. The ACLU is a better bet for actually resolving their behavior.

You should really educate yourself more faithgirl. Your coming off very ignorant, and showing that you know nothing about the wiccan religion. Stop just believing what movies show you, and learn for yourself.

yes the BBB would be a good start, and as much as I hate to say it- the ACLU may also help- this is a civil rights case just waiting to be tried- it is the same as turning a black person away from the store. focusing on someones race, religion, sexuality, etc. is EVIL, and I would fight it.

as far as faithfulgirl27 goes- KING SOLOMON WAS A WITCH!!,nearly every important figure in the bible used one form of witchcraft or another, the staff that turned into a serpent, it also turned water to wine, and also split the sea, I believe it was a biblical figure who wielded such a witches staff . christ himself dealt in :necromancy yes look at the bible it is all there- according to the bible KING SOLOMON used SPIRITS to build the temple mount in jerusalem- and he also penned a very powerful book on WITCHCRAFT called the lessor key of solomon. it is time that apples are called apples- organized religion is full of WITCHCRAFT. it is ignorance like this that caused the burning times.
the christian ( and others) religion is full of all the ingredients of witchcraft- it's very foundation was borrowed from witchcraft/ paganism.
there is EVIL in this world, it's name is IGNORANCE and HYPOCRISY.
I don't want to get into a religious debate- just throwing out some food for thought

Baldwinwolf:

Don't you know by know that Christians deny facts. Of course relgious people have used spells and witchcraft in the past - as did the first lady of the united states at one point.

It amazes me that they refuse to believe part of history because it doesn't go with their beliefs.

yep I know, but I still have to state the facts to those who are BRAINWASHED.

religious intolerance is IMMORAL, and more importantly here in AMERICA it is illegal.

so I guess that faithfulgirls flock are CRIMINALS in that they would freely choose to deny someone their constitutional rights.( kind of sets the civil rights movement back about 50 years)

I personally believe- to each his own, home of the free, freedom of RELIGION etc.

MAYBE EMPEROR NERO WAS RIGHT.

You can't do anything about it.

You can try and file for religious discrimination, but the store still reserves the right to refuse service to anyone, unless that wasn't posted somewhere.

Wow faithfulgirl how ignorant and despicable. you wonder why I have a problem with christians? That's a prime example. You don't even know what your saying. So much for not judging people. Wicca has nothing to do with satan. Your not part of the solution. You are part of the problem. You even refuse to listen to reason, not surprised. So you think that's what your God is all about? No wonder I want nothing to do with him. I can't believe people like you are still around. Would have figured our society intelligence level was better than that. Guess there are always a few to left behind in that section.
