I've seen a couple people state that Diet sodas are bad for you. What is bad about Diet, 0-calorie, sodas?

There is nothing inherently bad for you about diet soda, and nothing about aspartame (the sweetening agent in diet soda) is inherently unhealthy. Most of the articles you will find regarding the negative effects of diet soda have to do with how they make you feel, not with anything they're directly causing.

Aspartame contains an amino acid called phenylalanine, which can trigger insulin production in your body. This is not in and of itself a bad thing, but increased insulin production leads to hunger, which leads to snacking, which leads to any calorie-saving effects of the diet soda being wiped away.

Some studies also suggest that the amino acids in diet soda can cause headaches, irritability, and in very, very large quantities, phosphorus leaching and birth defects, but that could be said about nearly everything in the supermarket. Hell, almonds and nutmeg are poisonous in large quantities.

If you're self-aware enough to recognize that having diet soda will increase your urge to snack, there's nothing wrong with it. Yes, you will find loads of websites with sentences like studies show [insert horrible thing about diet soda] but it doesn't take much digging to turn up their studies are usually very small in scope and inconclusive at best. You'll find just as many websites that claim the exact opposite.

there are many different words for sugars
one of them is glucose
to make diet drinks taste nice they use a lot of sugars or artificial colours and sweetners, as well as other crap your body doest need
water is really the only healthy drink for you
try drinking water, or flavoured water

Glucose provides calories, so Diet drinks don't use glucose if they say they have 0 calories.

or flavoured water?? That's really all Diet drinks are. They may use artificial colors and artificial sweeteners plus other ingredients (including carbonation) but they are not harmful and they introduce no calories.

Saying that water is the only healthy drink for you is incorrect. There are many healthy drinks, milk being one of them. However, milk has calories. Water and Diet drinks are satisfactory ways to hydrate your body.

And, if caffeine is a problem, there are many Diet drinks that do not contain caffeine.
