Dial up.

Asked by fau 3 months ago, 2 answers.

Don't tell me to get better internet, this is all I can afford right now.
Anyways...
Is there a way that I could get it to stop disconnecting randomly?

I think my sisters friend is trying to call us right now to talk about nonsense (no really thats...

what they do) and my computer keeps disconnecting. Its really pissing me off, cause its 10:30 at night, and I'm trying to use the internet, like AIM and stuff, but her friend (I think it is) keeps trying to get through. My parents won't allow her to talk for the rest of the night, and her friend is a dummy, soo... yeah..

calling the provider has never yeilded results.

Um, sorry to tell you but there is no other way to help you other than getting DSL or cable internet. Most phone modems are designed NOT TO interfere with the regular phone system. It was invented as a secondary communications device.

Thats why everything is DSL or Cable, cause there was no other way to solve the issue your describing... In short get another phone line, or find a way to afford better internet. It can't be that much more, if it is, get a laptop or netbook and find a coffee shop.

There are fairly cheap devices you can hook into your phone line to keep your computer online even if you take a call. Sorry I can't give a specific name. I've had broadband for years. Look under the category of phone line switches.
