I am a diabetic. I was diagnosed at 17. My basic symptoms were excessive urination, extreme thirst and charlie horse leg cramps. Having diabetes isn't the end of the world. Mine is under control with diet and exercise and I'm not even on a pill for it. People can be diagnosed at any age, but it is more common to be a young child or an older adult.

I'm hypoglycemic, and the doctor said that I have just as much of a chance as everybody slse(if not more) of developing diabetes. It stinks, but it's not the end of the world, and there are definatly worse things that could happen to a person.
