You should see a therapist, self harming is no joke. Although temporarily helpful, self-injurious behavior is ultimately a dangerous and futile coping strategy which interferes with intimacy, productivity and happiness. There is no safe or healthy amount of self-injury.
If you feel the urge... remember this hotline and give them a ring.

Also a good exercise my therapist once gave me was to write a list of people who to call just to speak with when you're feeling that way. If you feel like harming yourself call person #1 if they don't answer or didn't speak to you very long go to person #2 and so on. When you're feeling like harming yourself sometimes it's because you feel lonely and that no one cares. Talking to someone about anything... just the weather and what you did today can get your mind off of self-injuring and help boost you up.
