How about pot roast ?
Take your roast, of whatever size, coat it in flour mixed with salt and pepper to taste. Brown all sides of the roast and put it in a pan big enough that you can entirely cover the roast with liquid. Add either beef broth (canned, boxed or made from buillion cubes) and enough water to cover the roast(you can also add some red wine for flavor). Add in 2 bay leaves, some garlic and an onion for flavor. Let it cook in a 350 degree oven for appx 4 hours. Add peeled, and cut potatoes, carrots and if you desire another onion about an hour before you'd like to eat and let it all simmer together. Be sure while cooking to keep the roast covered in liquid. test the potatoes for doneness (if they'll slide off a fork, they're done). Remove meat, taters, carrots and set in a serving dish. You're kind of on your own for gravy, mine's never as swift as i'd like, but mix appx 1cup of flour with 1cup of cold water (i always add some wine, garlic salt and pepper) and put in a jar, shake until the lumps are gone, slowly stir into the liquid left in the pan while brining it to a boil.
London Broil
Get a london broil, marinate in something overnight (i prefer to use zesty italian dressing) and then broil for appx 10 minutes per side or until desired doneness (we like some pink in the middle personally)
SHAN SPICE MIXES
I'd try this, I'm a student and trust me all of my friends herald me as chef du jour......hahaha, atleast for them, but the Shan Spice mixes are found anywhere where there is an Indo/Pak store.....and the recipe is right behind the little box, make sure not to put the whole packet of spice mix because as some of my friends can't take too much spice and i'd limit it to 1/2 the packet at the very MOST to keep it from being too spicy, or otherwise you can use 1/2 a pack and then eat it with plain yogurt and rice, always a good combination......
name of dish: Karahi/Fry Gosht
and here is the recipe and here is what it looks like
http://www.simplyspice.co.uk/karahifri-gosht-spice-p-376.html
hope this helps.......they have a lot more variety, look around the store and u'll find alot more recipes with a variety of dishes..........plus they're as easy as 1-2-3......i have no background of cooking, just started when i came to college and now i love doing it.......its awesome...........plus now that i'm single, women dig that about single men : )
