Hi there,

The worst part is the numbing. This is because they do have to put a tiny needle in your gums. But honestly, it's over in an instant, and then the numbness makes it so the cleaning doesn't hurt at all.

It'll be over before you know it. It would be worse if you never got a cleaning--then you'd get cavities and decay, which would hurt a LOT more than the cleaning.

Remember this - if it wasn't safe, they wouldn't be allowed to do it. Any side effects they will let you know of before they do it, but it sounds fairly routine and I doubt you'll have much to worry about. As prkswllflwr said, the worst part will be the numbing - after that, the numbing agent will take effect and you shouldn't feel a thing. After its all over and done with, later on when the numbness goes away your mouth might feel sore but that's noting a Pain Relief tablet or two won't cure.

Good Luck!

when they numb your with will just feel like a small pinch then a little sting, but it won't hurt, you might be a little sore when then numbness goes away, but nothing unbearable
