Dating an american boy

Next week I go out for dinner with a boy from my university. You need to know that I am from europe (austria) and I moved here...

just 2 month ago, he is the first american boy I go out with. I'm really really shy, and now even more, because of my language.. (aaa)... I'am really afraid to not be able having a normal conversation with him. But okay - I told him, and that's okay for him.

Can you give me any advices about dating an american guy? About dating in america? I know there are not all the same, but tell me about your own experience. Who pays? Seperated? Or does he have to pay? Just in case we like each other, when it is time for the first kiss? Whenever? After the first date, after 4 weeks, after month? Austrian guys are even more interested when a girl doesnt show interest, when she takes long time to answer text messages and so on... Is it the same here?

So just tell my, whats typical? What do I need to know?

Okey well guys in America are usually the ones that pay for dinner IF he is a gentlman. Here guys like it when you show intersest because if you like them you need to show it or they wont think your interested and move on. Kissing on the first date maybe on the cheak but if you feel comfortable then go for the mouth. Dont be nervous have fun American Boys are fun but bring money jsut in case he doesn't offer to pay. Oh and Text FAST lol

its actually kinda common but your not supposed to lol at least not if your in an actuall relationship

It's good to offer to split the payment of dinner, so that he doesn't think that you're taking advantage of his money. You can also offer to take the bill this time, and he can pay for your next date (it's a good way to guarantee another date if you really like him and the dinner went well). Seeing as he's just a college student, depending on his financial situation at the moment, he will either agree to pay half (or pay for the next date at your request), OR he will insist on paying for it all (to impress you).

A kiss on the cheek is fine from him or to him on the first date, when he drops you off back home. It will depend on how much your relationship has advanced on when you want to kiss him on the lips. There isn't really a proper time frame, just do what feels right to you.

About Austrian guys liking girls not showing interest, that's called 'playing hard to get'. Some American guys like it, but some others don't. Some guys will think that it is too much effort to chase you, just to take you out to dinner. If you play hard to get, it will show that you are a more 'high maintenance' girl, which some guys don't like. A high maintenance girl is a girl who has her guy pay for everything, and he will feel obligated to buy you expensive gifts often, take you to expensive restaurants, and feel that he has to give you all his attention ALL the time. As you can see, it can be a lot of trouble for some guys.

If you take a long time to answer text messages, he will just think that you've used him and you have gotten over him while he is waiting. You should text him back within the day. If you don't like him, you can take you time answering back and he will get the hint (or you can be a nicer person and just honestly tell him that you're not interested for a relationship).
