What are the risks of cutting?

okayy well here it goes...I'm 14 and im a cutter and I was just wondering what
other people thought about it... is it bad?? how does it hurt you?? what are the risks?? so just tell me watcha think.

I think weakness in the context is a temporary inability to cope with life and society in general and maybe by self harming, you are saying to everyone, show me how to cope or I'll really hurt myself. I'mnot saying you are an attention seeker or anything, but try to remember that in fact you are coping and you need to remind yourself of that.

If it was a healthy response to dealing with emotional issues then everyone would be doing it, right? But it is NOT emotionally healthy so very few people engage in this behavior.

Please seek some help from someone you trust who might be able to steer you towards other ways of dealing with your pent up emotions. You will thank yourself in the long run.

I am friends today with a girl who engaged in cutting when she was a young teen. She now feels obliged to always wear long sleeved shirts even when it is terribly hot because she is embarrassed about the scars and that she ever did this to herself in the first place.
talk to your mom honey and tell her how you feel, I know you might feel scared ad think she wont understand but really, she will be there for you.

I used to be a cutter.
I guess it is bad, there are better ways of dealing with emotionals rather than cutting.
I understand what else you want to know.
I supoose the risks are you could cut too deep and kill yourself.

The risks... infections, loss of use of fingers or hand, and then there's the almost bleeding to death, being locked up in the psych ward (you know the wards they show you on tv? real life wards at not nearly as nice...), dying... hmm the list could go on...

ok so at my old school I had a friend and he supposedly joined a gang and this is one of my really good friends and he called west side connection and he carved a deep w into his chest and he almost died does that explain anough

and then after he did it everyone started and they all started getting sick and strated going physico
