Curly hair - how do I deal with 43-year-old graying curly hair without cutting it?

I'm not much of an expert at dealing with hair, however, you might try a hair relaxer product which can even it out & take away some of the curl. That would make it less curly & more manageable, and potentially be less of a headache.

What is your hair's natural color?

Well, you shouldn't use a relaxer, because that will just make it dry, brittle and when it wears off, even more unmanageable. You should invest in a really good conditioner and only wash your hair no more than twice a week. Another thing to do is go to bed with braids and when you wake up, you'll have nice waves. I guess this isn't what you wanted to hear, but if it's really long, you probably should cut it. Long, curly hair looks beautiful, but it just isn't practical, there's so much time involved in keeping it nice. I nice legnth would be just a little past your shoulders. You should also dye your hair a light colour, like caramel or honey. That way, when the grays grow in, they'll be a lot less noriceably. Hope I helped, peace.

Hi,
If your natural colour is dark, maybe you might like to try henna, which is a natural way of colouring the hair. As for the curls, here's the good news! Curls are in for 2006!
However, if you really want to do something to straighten your hair, and your hair is not short, perhaps a straightener would be the answer.

All best wishes

Easy! Lowlights because you are too young to be gray already. And as for the length, don't let it get longer than your shoulders. If it's too long, it will age you. Enjoy the curls! Do not straighten it because you will end up battling dryness, which is already going to be a problem as your hair becomes more gray. As a 20-year hairdressing veteran, I would also suggest you find a good stylist who is around your age because she will be able to identify with your hair issues. Good luck!
