How in the world did you become an advisor?

Katie Batie Asked by kmr1763 over 2 years ago, 7 answers.

How did you become an advisor? And how it it that you're so certain of all of these things you state about yourself? What really blows my mind is your use of foul language when you'd think to set a good example, you'd be speaking with grace. I'm just so...

confused about where our younger generations are headed! What views do you hold? Do you have any, and if you do, are they informed?

Unfortunately, as in any batch..there are bad apples..it is disappointing they wear the badge 'Advisor' because some of the young/impressionables take it as gospel given the title.

Well I'm not an advisor but I do understand what you're saying. I try to avoid giving advice on something I have no clue about--I think it'll end up causing more trouble than to begin with. If/when I do give advice I make it a point to provide it on the basis of empirical evidence.. I thought it'd never happen but one of my psych professors has finally rubbed off on me! Anyway, it's difficult sometimes to sift through the posts on how to make anorexia your best friend or how to purposely break a bone. Hopefully the younger people who visit here will eventually understand that there's more to life than high school (believe it or not); we've all been there.

kmr1763,

I work for the site. Please FunMail me with who you're speaking about and provide links of inappropriate answers, if possible.

Thanks!

I became an advisor just by answering so many questions with very helpful answers that were highly rated.

I dont give advice on things I dont know anything about. The advice I give people on is things and the exact or almost the exact situation I have been in or something I have been though.

When I give advice its something I know about and have been though so I tell them about how it was when I did it or what ever. I speak from experience

I appreciate all the response, I was really curious.. sexlovingchick is so young, however, that I just find it so hard to believe that she's so dead set on the things she says about herself. What I really found appalling was the bad language. I mean, I'm twenty-one, I KNOW I'm a youngster, but I also don't accentuate my language by the use of profanity, and I believe that I raise myself a notch or two because of it. I applaud the giving of good advice, but I discourage the use of the term advisor when you're going to set a bad example.
