How to talk to my crush?

I'm a freshman in highschool and I liked this senior he is in my band and lunch period and I don't really talk to him only when we need a bass drum mallet I was wondering how do I talk to him is sort of quiet mostly sits there listen to his ipod and I just want to no how to aproch him, also I like this girl shes in my gym and science period and I talk her also when she needs something but I want to no more about her but I don't know how

Oooo! This is how I picked up my boyfriend. Ipods are a PERFECT tool for conversation starters! Just kinda sit next to him and be like hey whatcha listening to? and ask him what his fave music is and everything. start becomming friends before anythin else. But with convo starters its always safe with music! ^_^
