The cracking of knees is a sign of them not being used enough. I've noticed that normally people who aren't active or don't exercise that much end up with cracking in their knees. This also applies for your elbows, I'm pretty sure. So maybe some squats or going for runs. However, it could possibly be something else, so like chevy87 said, talking to your doctor would probably be the best analysis.
No, cracking any joints in your body just removes a built up gas that is absorbed where two joints meet. If fact by cracking it you are stretching out the joints allowing you to be more flexible with the movement. The gas gets removed after you pop/crack the joint and then it takes 20-30 minutes before their is enough gas to pop/crack it again. So in short no it wont.

I beleive the cracking of the knees is due to not enough calcium. Weird, but yeah. Mine have been cracking for years, and I do notice that there is pain a lot of times, not depending on the weather either. Talk to your doctor about it if it concerns you.
are they actually cracking like your fingers would? or is that you are losing cartilage? which is what happened to me after 8 years of forced marches and running 5 miles a day~4x times a week. get it checked out.
Cracking your knees can not make you loss strength it is simply just air passing through your knees
