This is a new one on me...tho, it's not uncommon for a neutered dog, or a gelded stallion to still possess the ability to successfully mate (but not produce young)...I've never heard of it with a female. Is there a possibility that the Vet took out her uterus, but left the ovaries (like a partial hysterectomy in women)...where the hormones are all there, but there's no way to conceive? That will take an X-ray to find out...
Let us know...my curiousity is really piqued on this.

Could my dog be pregnant?
My Australian Shepard was fixed 2 years ago, but I caught her letting a male mount and tie her, which I thought was really odd because I thought a female would only let this happen when she was in heat. Could the vet have done something wrong? I would...
think it would be pretty hard to mess up a spay, but she seems to have lost her appitite, and I can't help but wonder.
